SDG 8 : Gender equality in Norway

In 2015, United Nations set 17 Sustainable Development Goals to achieve with its member. Among those Sustainable Development Goals, I chose number 5 (Achieve Gender’s equality and empower women). Norway is known as one of the most gender-equal nations. Though it is known to be gender equal there are still many challenges to achieve Equilibrium.

Gender equality means men and women both enjoy the same opportunities, resources. Norway has worked in solidarity since 2009 to lower the gender inequality they have also passed several acts to shape the women’s rights. Norway has also taken the 2030 Agenda of UN and working actively. According to the Gender Gap statistics 2020, Norway is working well and ranked second in Gender parity chart (Gundersen, 2021). They have passed several acts in recent years like Equity and Anti-discrimination Act. According to the publication reports the working women holds the 36.3 % share of a senior leadership roles in the workplace (Gundersen, 2021)

Norway is engaged with the UN, World bank and other organizations to strengthen the women rights and equality socially, politically and economically so, there is a lot to take from the Norway by other nations (United Nations Partnerships for SDGs Platform, n.d.). Norways head of government most prominent position is held by women so, every nation should follow some methods from Norway to minimize the gender gap.

In 2015, United Nations set 17 Sustainable Development Goals to achieve with its member. Among those Sustainable Development Goals, I chose number 5 (Achieve Gender’s equality and empower women). The best way to measure the progress of a nation is y looking at the way how they treat females. The topic of gender equality covers all the burning issues worldwide. They are  women's education, maternal health, economic empowerment of females, and the role of women in family, community, politics, and more.         In 2015, United Nations set 17 Sustainable Development Goals to achieve with its member. Among those Sustainable Development Goals, I chose number 5 (Achieve Gender equality and empower women).  In this Blog 2, I am choosing SDG 5 (Achieve gender equality and empower women) in India. Gender inequality is deeply rooted in our society and eliminating it will be one of the biggest achievements till today.    India is in the southern region of Asia. It occupies an important strategic position in South Asia (Where Is India Located? Location Map of India on a World Map, n.d.) . The status of women is influenced by their religion. The religion always mentions men above women. Due to the societal patriarchal nature, domestic violence has been culturally accepted in India.  Women were deprived of education because their main role was to look after the house and run the family smoothly.  Due to lack of education, only a few women used to...
